125 Celebrations
Saturday 27th September 2008
2008 will be the 125th year since the Boys’ Brigade was founded.
To celebrate this fact we are hosting a mini-Olympics event here in Coatbridge with both athletics and fun events for all Company section. The event is open to all companies in Scotland and we look forward to welcoming you to Lanarkshire.
Events on the day will be in the normal three age group categories, within the Company section and depending on their popularity and sufficient entries, will include
100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1 Mile, 5,000m (Seniors only).
110m Hurdles, 400m Hurdles.
High Jump, Long Jump, Discus, Shot Put.
Age groups are as follows,
Age Limits:- As Per BB Age
Junior Boys aged 11, 12 or 13 and who will not have attained their 14th Birthday prior to 1/9/2009
Inter Boys aged 14 and 15 and who will not have attained their 16th Birthday prior to 1/9/2009
Senior Boys aged 16, 17 and 18 years of age and who will not attain their 19th Birthday prior to 1/9/2009
Juniors can enter 4 events Inters can enter 4 events Seniors can enter 5 events.
And to entertain those with a slightly less athletic outlook we have a few events lined up which will hopefully keep the remaining Boys in your section as well as family and supporters amused.
The Scottish Tug of War Association have offered their expertise and help on the day and are looking for teams of 6-8 people to enter a team and take part in this event. They will supply all ropes and officials, and are asking for as many teams as possible to enter. If you require a free tutorial DVD or rules on Tug Of War then contact their secretary
