8th Airdrie

The 8th Airdrie Boys Brigade meet at High Church, Airdrie.

Above is our captain, Derek Craig, presenting a trophy to the Battalion in memory of David Campbell.

 

Davy was Captain of 8th Airdrie Company for over 30 years and passed away suddenly in 2006. The Battalion will proudly put the trophy to good use as a mark of respect to a man who served the Battalion, his Church, his Company and more importantly to him ‘His Boys’, with the utmost enthusiasm and commitment and with an abundance of great humour and humility.

1999, this is a photograph from the QB Completion course held at Carronvale, this was the last time the Company had a Queensman. On this occasion we had 3 guys achieving the award amongst this group

8th Airdrie Company’s most notable achievement was on 13th April 1985 winning the British indoor 5-a-side competition at Consett, County Durham. The then Battalion President Mr Jack sanderson issued a special commendation to 8th Airdrie Company as this was the first occasion a member of Airdrie Coatbridge & District Battalion had achieved such a distinction.

The Company had a Camp in 2011. Auchengillan Centre was the location and it rained constantly. This still didn’t dampen our spirits and a wonderful weekend was had by all.
